Yang Peiyi, an undergraduate in the 2013 class of the Department of Mathematics in JNU's College of Information Sciences and Technology, has published a research paper titled "Trend Representation-Based Log-Density Regularization System for Portfolio Optimization" in the journal Pattern Recognition. She was the paper's first author; her adviser, Lai Zhaorong, was the corresponding author and second author. Wu Xiaotian and Fang Liangda, teachers in the Department of Computer Science, were co-authors. 

Based on the Guangdong Quantity Financial Big Data Engineering Technology Research Center, newly founded by JNU, this study was supported by JNU’s startup fund for talents and scientific research, the National Natural Science Fund Youth Project, and special funds for basic scientific research operations of central universities.

Pattern Recognition is an international core periodical in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning and pattern recognition. Its 2016-2017 impact factor was 4.582.
