The opening ceremony for the 2017 Chinese Culture Paradise Camp in Auckland, New Zealand, was held at Epsom Girl' Grammar School on Oct. 2. The 14-day activity included such traditional courses as Chinese martial arts, dance, poems, traditional Chinese painting, cucurbit flute, clay sculpture and dragon-lion dance, as well as special Chinese culture innovation courses like Wuhua marionettes, and Chinese acrobatics and diabolo. It was the second time Jinan University had undertaken Chinese culture training program in Oceania.
Attending the opening ceremony were Lin Simin, president of the Chinese Community Services Center; Wang Lingjuan, the center's general manager; Tayyaba Khan of New Zealand’s Office of Ethnics Affairs; Fu Jiwei, professor of the Language Experts Office under New Zealand's Ministry of Education; JNU's 14-teacher delegation; and 300 campers from Auckland and their parents.

In a letter of congratulation, Xu Erwen, consul general of the People's Republic of China in Auckland, highly praised the activity for its great significance in deepening Sino-New Zealand understanding and friendship, and she hoped it would be a complete success.
