A JNU project is among the first batch on the Ministry of Science and Technology's list in strategic international scientific and technological innovation cooperation of the national key research and development plan. The project is "Research on Key Technology of Biomedical Model With Clawed Frog and Its Regeneration Mechanism in Myocardium Without Scars," by Prof. Cai Dongqing, the project leader of the College of Life Science and Technology and key laboratory of regenerative medicine education; Prof. Huang Ruijin of the University of Bonn in Germany; and Prof. Zhaohui of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It was JNU's first project to be approved, receiving 4.61 million yuan.
The national key R&D program focuses on major public welfare research related to the people's livelihood, as well as major scientific and technological issues concerning core competitiveness of industries, overall capacity for independent innovation and national security. Aiming to break technical bottlenecks in major areas of national economic and social development, it combines the original national "973” plan, the “863” plan, the national science and technology support plan, and international scientific and technological cooperation and exchange projects.
