Prof. Weng Jian of JNU's Institute of Information Science and Technology/Institute of Cyberspace Security, won the 2017 National Cyber Security Excellent Teacher Award during the Fourth National Cyber Security Awareness Week at Shanghai Xijiao convention center on Sept. 16. The lists of cyberspace security demonstration colleges and excellent cyber security talents and teachers were read out on the convention.

Weng, the institutes' executive dean, has made outstanding achievements in subject construction, teaching and research. He has been selected as one of the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents; fund winner of the Ministry of Education Huo Yingdong Young Teachers, the national training object of "Thousands，Hundreds and Ten Projects" among colleges and universities in Guangdong; and a distinguished professor of the Pearl River Scholars at colleges and universities in Guangdong. His students won the Password Innovation Award in the first year of the China Association of Cryptologic Research, the Best Paper Award in the 26th Cryptography and Information Security Conference in 2011, the Best Student Paper in the 10th Proof Security International Conference in 2014, and the Best Student Paper Award in the 37th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems in 2017.
