JNU President Hu Jun gave a keynote speech at the Sino-Russia Comprehensive Universities Alliance Founding Congress and University Presidents Forum in Shenzhen on Sept. 13. The speech by Hu, who represented one of seven participating universities, was titled "Lead by Science and Technology, Promote Exchanges and Cooperation in Sino-Russia Higher Education."
Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets attended the congress, along with the Chinese and Russian ministers of foreign affairs, education and finance; nearly 100 representatives of universities in both countries, and other guests.

Hu said JNU has been cooperating with Russian universities in Russia since 2002 and has signed cooperation agreements with more than 10 universities and scientific research institutions in Russia, including the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Saint-Petersburg State University and Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University. JNU and these universities have achieved remarkable results in cooperative scientific research projects, joint cultivation of high-level talents and student-faculty exchanges.
The congress and forum are a project of the Sino-Russia Cultural Exchange Service, supported by China's Ministry of Education, co-sponsored by Beijing University and Lomonosov Moscow State University, and co-organized by the Guangdong Department of Education and the Shenzhen Education Bureau.
