The 2017 Global Business Challenge (GBC) North Asia Final sponsored by CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant), was hosted by the Chinese University of Hong Kong on June 12. Elite college students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan and other countries gathered to conduct business case studies, do business role-play and show their potential business leadership in management accounting. Led by Prof. Qi Jun of the School of Management's accounting department, JNU's team, Volter, was the Overall Winner of North Asia, and JNU student Wang Xinyi won the only award for Best Potential Business Elite.

The CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international competition designed by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants to bring out the best in potential business leaders among postgraduates. CIMA aims to build the talent pool, bring out the best business potential among young talents, and provide a platform for good communication with employers, leading to better career development opportunities. Teams from all over the world, including the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Russia, Australia, Japan and Singapore, will participate in the global challenge. Since the competition was first held in 2009, it has attracted attention and participants from diverse countries and districts. Over 400 teams were selected from 68 colleges and universities in 32 provinces for the 2017 mainland China regional competition.
In mainland China, there are four divisions. Eight teams from different universities are selected from the preliminary contest to attend the division final. After fierce competition, teams from Tsinghua University, Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Jinan University became champions of the four divisions, then competed with teams from Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and Technology, National Chengchi University and Kyoto University on June 12.
