A ceremony of appointing Prof. Andrew Michael Gamble as a JNU emeritus professor was held on May 22. President Hu Jun presented Gamble with an emeritus professor certificate and wore a JNU badge for him.

Gamble, a Cambridge University professor, is an academician of the British Academy of Social Science. He is a renowned political economist and has received political science lifetime achievement award.

Gamble expressed his delight at receiving the honor and described his experience and achievement in political economy and university governance. He also said Cambridge University cared about the research in politics, economics and culture of emerging countries, led by China, and has opened interdisciplinary courses relevant to the fields.

After the ceremony, Gamble gave an academic seminar for JNU students and teachers on analyzing the current situation of contemporary Western countries' economic development.
