Two JNU students, Chen Aisen and Zheng Wenzhu, were nominated in April as the 2017 Chinese College Students of the Year. This year, 200 college students are nominated, and only 10 of them will be winners.  

Chen is an undergraduate majoring in international economics and trade in the College of Economics. At the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, he and his diving partner Lin Yue won the gold medal in the men’s synchronized 10-meter platform competition; Chen also won gold in the men's individual 10-meter platform. He has won more than 40 times in the World Championships, FINA Diving World Cup and FINA Diving World Series.

Zheng, who is majoring in international politics, is an undergraduate from Hong Kong in the School of International Studies/Academy of Overseas Chinese Studies. She is vice minister of the Department of Youth in Hong Kong Alumni Association, JNU, and is responsible for affairs of Hong Kong students at JNU.

    In 2012, she set up an organization, Green Eco-Company, to promote the development of public interests and environmental protection. She and her classmates launched Dream High, a plan for financing students from a mountainous area in Sichuan Province. In 2015, she and five partners traveled to Gansu Province to teach in a very remote village, and in 2016, she earned the distinction of Fashion Star in JNU’s Outstanding Students Selection under the plan of 5A Students -- excellent students in every aspect, including study and social work.

That year, she also mobilized her talent resources in schools in Beijing, Shanghai and Gunagzhou to co-found the Qingfeng Education project. In March she and her partners officially registered the Rixi Education and Technology Company.
