JNU's School of Medicine agreed to continue its cooperation agreement on a clinical teaching program with Kiang Wu Hospital, Macau on April 21. At the signing ceremony at Jinan University were JNU Vice President Ye Wencai; Dong Jun, deputy director of the School of Medicine; Qi Renbin, director of the Teaching and Hospital Management Office; Huang Guosheng, vice chairman of the Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association; vice chairman and secretary general of the Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association; and Ma Xuezhang, director of the Kiang Wu Hospital.

Kiang Wu Hospital, one of the biggest in Macau, is a non-governmental charitable medical organization. Founded and managed by Chinese, Kiang Wu was established in 1871, the 10th year of the Tongzhi Emperor in the Qing Dynasty. It has provided health care to the public to fulfill its core values of caring for the poor and needy, and to promote a healthy and meaningful life for the general public. It has developed into a comprehensive medical organization specializing in medical services, preventive care, teaching and scientific research.

In 1993, Kiang Wu became a clinical teaching base for JNU medical students. Since then, some JNU students from Macau have done clinical internships at the hospital every year. Over the last 24 years, more than 300 JNU medical students have completed their graduation internships at Kiang Wu. Now, one-third of Kiang Wu doctors are JNU graduates who provide health services to Macanese and promote the local healthcare industry.
JNU and Kiang Wu agreed to continue to develop their cooperation on medical teaching and research because of their long-term relationship and the hospital’s consistent support of clinical teaching. The renewal aims to ensure effective training for practical clinical competence of JNU's medical students from Macau.
