Dr. Nga Chin Lik, president of the City University of Malaysia (CUM), led an eight-member delegation to JNU on April 17. President Hu Jun and representatives from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, the School of International Studies, the Academy of Overseas Chinese Studies, the Art College and the College of Liberal Arts attended the meeting. The two sides reached consensus on the joint construction of the think tank under the One Belt One Road policy and explored joint education in literature and art at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
In 2016, Malaysia set up a One Belt One Road center directly under the Malaysian Chinese Association China Affairs Committee. It is mainly for carrying out research related to One Belt One Road initiatives, providing advice to enterprises, helping companies open up the market, and creating "integration and docking" between government and enterprises. CUM, the designated cooperative university between the Malaysian and Chinese governments, and the center signed an education and training cooperation project, including a range of short-term corporate training and courses.
JNU's College of Liberal Arts enjoys a deep foundation of traditional Chinese academics, makes enormous achievements in spreading Chinese culture, and nurtures talents from generation to generation, while the Art College is determined to build a unique base for education and research in Chinese art. Representatives from China and Malaysia had a lively discussion on cooperation in liberal arts disciplines and planned to continue in-depth exchanges to explore cooperation.
