A JNU undergraduate team consisting of four medical students -- Long Dianbo, Zhang Nuan, Feng Zicong and Fang Shuogui -- became the champion in the South China sub-contest of the National Clinical Skills Contest on April 15, earning the region’s one and only ticket to the final competition.

The contest, the only existing national contest among China's medical schools, is held by the Ministry of Education's Research Center for Clinical Medical Education and Kunming Medical University. Twelve medical schools in South China took part this year.
The contest is composed of preliminary, repechage, semifinal and final contests. While the preliminary and resurrection contests take place in multiple regions, the semifinals and the finals require contestants to make comprehensive diagnoses of clinical cases in various departments. It tests their bilingual knowledge and clinical skills in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, first aid, nursing, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and dermatology. Using simulation models and standardized patients, the contest recreates actual clinical scenes. It tests not only the contestants' clinical thinking and operating skills, but also their performances in humanistic care, communication with patients, teamwork and psychological qualities.
