Representatives of 26 French colleges and universities attended the French College Spring Meeting at JNU on March 28. The French Higher Education Department, an institution under the French Embassy, invited three comprehensive universities, 14 business management institutions, three science and engineering institutions, and six technical colleges. Present were JNU Vice President Song Xianzhong; Pu Ruoqian, director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation; Li Donghui, executive dean of the School of Management, and Bertrand Furno, French consul general in Guangzhou.
Song said the continuous development of Sino-French relations has brought a rare opportunity for cooperation between the two countries in higher education. At present, JNU has also officially established the French major for undergraduates, hoping that through frank and in-depth exchanges, both sides can explore the space of academic exchange and cooperation.
Jinan University has established a lot of cooperation with France, and 25 students from JNU go to study in France every year, Furno said. This meeting will be an opportunity for French universities and Chinese students.
During the meeting, students learned about courses taught in French and English and consulted with representatives of the institutions about applications. Other activities included thematic lectures, food tastings and French films.
JNU has signed more than 300 cooperation agreements with universities and educational institutions around the world, including Paris VII, Lyon Catholic University, Université de Rennes, and Toulouse Business School.
