Prof. He Qingyu of JNU's College of Life Science and Technology and Prof. Zhang Liwen of Hong Kong University's Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine have made a breakthrough in tumor metastasis and published an online paper in Nature Communications (1, IF: 11.329) titled Cancer cell-secreted IGF2 instigates fibroblasts and bone marrow-derived vascular progenitor cells to promote cancer progression. Prof. He is the co-corresponding author of the paper, associate researcher Li Bin the co-first author and Dr. Wang Yang the fifth author.
The research was supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology's Major Basic Research Program (Project 973), the National Natural Science Foundation, the RGC Research Fund of Hong Kong Research Grants Council, the Guangdong Research Project and the RayBiotech 2013 Global Research Projects Fund.
In addition, the research results on the regulation of tumor dryness and angiogenes by microRNAs were published in Oncogene (1, IF: 7.932) in March 2017, under the title MicroRNA-377 suppresses initiation and progression of esophageal cancer by Inhibiting CD133 and VEGF.
