A JNU delegation led by Liang Yan, director of the Office of Public Relations, visited Indonesia from Feb. 26 to Mar. 2, meeting with two leaders of the local Chinese community, The Ning King and Ted Sioeng, as well as the JNU Alumni Association and several organizations that promote education in Chinese language and culture.
A pre-eminent business leader, The Ning King (Zheng Nianjin in Chinese,) has committed himself to extending education in Chinese language and culture. He was formerly the rector of Tarumanagara University and donated 6 million yuan to JNU in 2014. JNU named its Second Social Sciences Building after him to honor his generosity. Liang expressed appreciation for his support and briefed him on JNU's efforts to promote Chinese language and culture education in Indonesia.

The owner of the International Daily News, Ted Sioeng (Xiong Delong in Chinese) is a philanthropist who has contributed hundreds of millions of yuan to Chinese society. Liang paid tribute to him on behalf of JNU and introduced the university’s developing plans. Sioeng immediately expressed his determination to contribute to the process.

During the trip, the delegation also visited JNU's Alumni Association in Jakarta, expressing greetings and concerns for alumni there and in Bali and Batam. It later to visited the the Argo Manunggal Group's culture theme park project in Bali, and then transferred to Batam to discuss cooperation on Chinese language and cultural education with several institutions, including the Chinese Foundation for Cultural Harmony and Cirong School.
