The first Jinan University-University of Hong Kong Seminar on immunization and disease was held at the JNU Biomedical Translational Research Institute on Feb. 25. It was jointly hosted by the institute, the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine of HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, 111 plan colleges and universities' disciplines innovation and talent-attracting base (the molecular mechanism of immune function regulation), and the key laboratory of the molecular immune antibody in Guangdong Province. The seminar aimed to strengthen exchange and cooperation in immunization and disease between mainland China and Hong Kong, and to promote academic exchange between Guangdong and Hong Kong.
A nine-member delegation headed by Prof. Tu Wenwei, the key laboratory director in the department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine and a famous scientist in immunology research, attended the academic seminar for Guangdong and Hong Kong postgraduates, together with 40 teachers and students from the Biomedical Translational Research Institute, JNU's First Affiliated Hospital and Guangzhou Medical University.

Yin Zhinan, dean of the institute, hosted the seminar and delivered the opening speech. The seminar explored strengthening personnel exchanges, conducting scientific research cooperation, jointly applying Guangdong and Hong Kong scientific research projects, and transferring scientific research achievement. The conclusion summarized problems encountered in research and proposed constructive suggestions.
