A JNU delegation led by Zhu Yikun, dean of the Law School, signed an agreement with the University of San Francisco on Jan. 23 to cooperate on legal education, research and exchange programs for professors and students.
The next day, the delegation met with Robert Merges, associate dean of UC Berkeley School of Law, to discuss cooperation. The two parties agreed to work on legal and intellectual property studies, exchange and joint training programs, and priorities for cooperation Merges expressed said Berkeley is willing to give JNU Law School graduates preference in admissions in the future.

With a 90-year history, JNU's Law School is among the most influential in South China. The affiliated Intellectual Property School, founded in 2004, is the first of its kind in the region and one of the first two schools in China offering an undergraduate major in intellectual property. The State Intellectual Property Office, State Department, and Guangdong Province and Guangzhou municipal governments are helping the school build the Professional Training Center in the Field of Intellectual Property, which is expected to promote top-level research, higher education, social services, corporate training and stimulating mechanisms.
UC Berkeley has been rated the top public university in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. Its School of Law enjoys a high reputation around the world. The Berkeley Center for Law and Technology is one of the world's major institutes for intellectual property studies, making Berkeley the top in the field among American universities.
