The winter camp's theme was One Belt and One Road to Develop Together With Overseas Chinese. The routes the campers were going to take were carefully designed. Participants were mainly going to visit areas belonging to the One Belt and One Road project, adding trips to experience the cultures of Beijing and Tianjin, and a journey to commemorate the Long March to see beautiful natural scenery and explore their cultural heritage. In addition, they had a chance to learn history in person by visiting places where it happened. They kept their minds open by witnessing great recent achievements in social development and grasping the main trends of international economics.
Participants said they were impressed by the special routes they took and cultural experiences full of surprises and diverse activities. Students from France, South Africa, Argentina, Italy and Indonesia were eager to participate. One of the teams, named 'Journey to the West of Yunnan Province' consisted of members from over 15 countries and areas.
Huang Xiumei, a student from Thailand, said she wanted to experience the place in person to learn Chinese history and make friends with same goals. Hu Haoxian, a Macao student, expressed his strong wish to join in such activities as the best way to study Chinese culture.
