A German press delegation visited JNU on Jan. 13 to exchange views with teachers and students in the College of Journalism and Communication. They had an intensive dialogue on such topics as journalism majors’ employment in new media; teaching and talent cultivation for journalism in digital era; similarities and differences between Chinese and Western ideas on journalism education; how traditional media cope with new media; integrative media development; expanding internationalized education; and the establishment of international journalistic practice bases. The delegation also visited the big data laboratory in the College of Journalism and Communication.

The delegation comprises editors, journalists, researchers and administrative staff members from the German Journalists Association, Deutsche Welle, ARD German TV, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Thuringia state media agency, Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Federal Citizen Education Centre, the federal bureau of North Rhine-Westphalia, the German Re-Publica Internet Conference and the German Journalism College. Staff members from the German Embassy in Beijing and the China International Publishing Group accompanied the delegation.
