A delegation led by Liu Jiesheng, deputy principal of JNU, visited colleges in Spain and Switzerland and the United Nations World Tourism Organization from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6 to expand international education and promote international exchanges and cooperation on tourism.
The delegation met with Dr. Pierre Ihmle, the executive dean of the Lausanne Hotel School, to negotiate cooperation and reached consensus on such fields as mutual visits and exchanges of students and teachers. The delegation also had extensive exchanges with teachers at the school in many other areas of mutual interest, such as hotel management, career development and construction of a practical course system.

In Spain the JNU delegation met with Bernardo Cascales Salinas, vice president of Mercia University, to discuss international exchange and cooperation in outstanding disciplines. The two sides agreed to cooperate on teacher and student exchange programs, practice bases and scientific research.
The JNU delegation also talked with Marcio Favilla, executive director of the UNWTO; Xu Jing, director of the Asia Pacific region; and Lucy Garner, principal of Higher Educational Quality Accreditation. They discussed Continued Educational Quality Accreditation of the tourism management major, cooperation in quality management of tourism destinations, and joint construction of a Tourism Innovation Research Center to confirm future cooperation plans and directions.
