Jinan University ushered in its 110th Anniversary Celebration Day on Nov.9 with a series of cultural activities, academic forums and celebration meetings. Leaders at all levels, council members, alumni at home and abroad, and friends from all circles gathered with teachers and students for the festivities

On Nov. 8, People's Daily, Nanfang Daily, Ta Kung Pao of Hong Kong, Macao Daily and other central, provincial, municipal, Hong Kong and Macao media issued the “JNU 110th Anniversary Announcement (No.2).” Jinan University's News Network, official microblog, official WeChat, alumni official WeChat and other campus media also synchronized or will release the announcement, which reads as follows:

Marching forward through hardships over 110 years, handing JNU's teaching spirit to the Four Seas, pulling together toward common goals in the 21st century, and caring for overseas Chinese on five continents, JNU, as the No.1 University for overseas Chinese, marks its 110th anniversary on Nov. 19, 2016, with a series of academic and cultural events.

The announcement of JNU's 110th-anniversary celebration on Nov. 1 has had a wide influence on teachers and students at home and abroad, the school board, alumni and all sectors of society. The higher authorities and government apparatuses have sent congratulatory letters. Alumni associations around the world have expressed their blessings to JNU in different ways. In addition, JNU alumni around the world have supported the crowd-funding to rebuild the "Mongolian yurt," which carries wonderful memories for past generations of JNU alumni. The large-scale all-media activity of "looking for JNU Alumni, telling good homeland stories" has spread around the world.

In November, the flowers in Guangzhou still bloom like a piece of brocade and the weather is as warm as in spring. The beautiful JNU campus welcomes guests and alumni from home and abroad with open arms. Answering the call to build a high-level university, JNU will hold a series of high-level academic and cultural activities on the occasion of the anniversary to promote exchanges and communication in various fields, and to share the joy of the celebration with all alumni and guests, who will feel the charm of the academy and great teachers and review those past school days.

JNU has been striving to move forward in building a domestic first-class and world-famous high-level university. JNU could not have made these continuous achievements and leaping developments without warm support and generous help from people of all circles, school board trustees and alumni over the last 110 years.
