JNU Vice President Zhang Hong led a delegation to Finland, Italy and France last month, visiting leading universities to accelerate exchange and cooperation. The delegation also visited embassies and consulates to absorb useful and creative suggestions on international education and service for overseas Chinese.
The group spread admission information in those three countries and set up overseas admissions offices in Milan and Rome. Representatives of the Admissions Office, the College of Education, the Graduate School,and the International Exchange and Cooperation Division also took part.
The delegation visited the University of Tampere in Finland, the University of Bologna and the University Paris Diderot - Paris VII. The group discussed jointly cultivating high-level talents and establishing research cooperation platforms with Harri Melin, vice chancellor of Tampere University, andAntoine Cazé, vice president of University Paris Diderot - Paris VII. During the visit, Zhang invited both to the 110th anniversary of Jinan University and the Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum.
The group also visited Yao Cheng, consul to the Chinese Embassy in Italy. Zhang said Jinan University values the education of overseas Chinese’s children abroad. He said JNU seeks cooperative relationships to be aware of problems and trouble spots in Chinese education institutes establishing schools overseas schools. With the help of JNU’s resources and advantages, he said, the university expects to solve these problems and promote overseas Chinese education.

In Finland the JNU delegation met with Wu Xiaopeng, the executive director, and Li Weixian, vice executive director, of Finland Chinese Sodality to fully understand education conditions and demands for Chinese education of overseas Chinese in Finland. They had an in-depth discussion about cooperation and planned to sign cooperation agreements soon.
Zhang signed a cooperation agreement with Li Qunlai, headmaster of Longjia Chinese Education School, to establish an admissions office in Milany. They communicated in depth about JNU admissions policy, teaching and scientific research, and students’ living conditions.

Zhang signed an overseas enrollment and cooperation agreement with Dai Xiaozhang, secretary general of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce. Zhang also gave awards torepresentatives of Chinese educational institutions who attended the meeting. The delegation discussed with directors of these institutions advertising JNU’s admissions policy for overseas Chinese to support development of Chinese education abroad. The delegation also put forward plans for overseas Chinese adult education in Italy and revitalization of overseas Chinese businesses.
The delegation visited a Chinese educational school in Rome and Chaozhou Guild Hall, the admissions office of Chinese education in France.
China Central Television, China News Service, Nouvelles d’Europe and Global Times reported on the JNU delegation’s visit.
