Professor Yang Tong, from City College of Hong Kong was employed as lecture professor of our unversity and the employment ceremony was held on Spetebern 25th.

According to the introduction from the host of the ceremony Mr Weng Jian, executive dean of College of Information Science & Technology/Cyber Space Security Institute, Yang Tong is currently the director of Department of mathematics and lecture professor of City University of Hong Kong. He has been engaged in the research of nonlinear partial differential equation for a long time, especially in the hyperbolic conservation law and the study of Boltzmann equation and has made an important contribution. He has won a number of important academic awards, including the first International Congress of Chinese mathematicians mathematics Morningside Silver Award in 1998. In 2004 he obtained the national science fund for distinguished young scholars overseas and Hong Kong and Macao Young Scholars Cooperation Fund. In 2005 he was hired as the ministry of education Yangtze river scholars award lecture professor.He also won the 2011/2012 of the annual Hong Kong Croucher foundation advanced Research achievement award (Croucher Senior Research Fellowship 2011/2012).The project "the law of conservation of group and the boltzmann equation of some mathematical theory" headed by him has won the second prize of national natural science for the year of 2012.

Ye Qin expressed warm welcome for the joining of Professor Yang Tong, and hopes professor Yangtong actively to give advice to the development of our school of mathematics and information science, and  to promote the level of our school discipline development to a new level.Yang Tong said it is a great honor to be able to join the Jinan University, and he is looking forward to working with the JNU colleagues, to promote the development of mathematics and Information Science in Jinan University.

Subsequently, Professor Yang Tong made a wonderful academic report "Some mathematical studies on rarefied gas"for teachers and students.
