Professor Roberto Valdeón, chef editor of Perspectives: Studies in Translatology, a leading journal in the field of translation, professor of Universidad de Oviedo, Spain was employed by the College of Translation as a guest professor. The employment ceremony was held on October 9th in Zhuhai Campus. Professor Zhao Youbin, dean of the College of Translation conferred a certificate of employment to Professor Roberto Valdeón. Also. Professor Roberto Valdeón delivered a speech titled Fundamentals in Translation.
The speech covered the history of translation and theory of translation from two perspectives: language and culture. He also talked about the legitimacy and the defect of different tranlation theory in terms of case studies. Also, Professor Roberto Valdeón had interaction with the audience.

That Professor Roberto Valdeón giving speech is a part of the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the founding of College of Translation. More than 400 facutlties and students from Collge of Translation, Sun-yat sen University and other collges in Zhuhai.
Professor Roberto Valdeón arrived at Zhuhai Campus on the afternoon of 8th October. Professor Li Congdong et al extended warm welcome to him. The college of translation hoped to introduced lastest ideas so as to widen the horizen of faculties and students alike, so the college has done a lot in implementing the program “Outstanding Scholars Visit JNU”, to build a plarform for high-level exchanges etc.
