al literature from three aspects: to begin with, the thesis has an overall observation and review to the backdrops of the elite intellectuals in Late Qing Dynasty to Post May Fourth Movement Erode, which uncovers that they observed consciously“tradition”--- their underlying principles; secondly, the thesis studies the creation activities of new literature, revealing a complex evolution of new literature from “be against”to “be for”traditional liberation; finally, the thesis sorts out the theoretical system of literature revealing how new literature uses de-westernization to counteract westernization.
