A welcoming party was held recently in International School for the first batch of overseas postgraduates for Chinese Studies, a master degree program instructed in English offered by International School.

This master degree program was set up with the permission from The Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and it has been two years for the University to make preparation for the new program. And the length of schooling of this program is two years and it is offered to foreign students only. The goal of setting up the program is to cultivate talents having better understanding to China, amicable to China and developing good feeling to China. 

Ms. Yu Huifen, director of International Affairs Office extended warm welcome to all the new students. Mr. Tang Shuze gave a brief introduction to the international platform where English immersion approach was adopted and he also hoped that they could became a specialist in China affairs. Professor Zhang Zhenjiang, representative of the faculties gave a detailed introduction to Chinese Studies: its objective, curriculum and methods of training.

The 10 foreign students engaging in Chinese Studies are from U.S.A, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Kenya and Niger. 9 of them are winners of the Chinese Government Scholarship, the first students of our university win financial support from the Scholarships.
