The welcome party for the 2013 M.B.B.S students was held on March 21st, at 7:30pm in the Management School, R101. It was a great party for all freshmen students from India, Somalia and Jordan.  
 

The Deputy director Teaching Affairs Department ,Mr. Zhang Xiaoning,the Vice Dean of Medical school,Mr.Bai Zhiquan and the Dean of the International School, Mr. Tang Shuze presided the function. Vice Dean Prof Wang, all teachers and staff of the International School were present for the Welcome party along with other leaders of Jinan University.
 

The ceremony was inaugurated by the welcome address delivered by Prof Tang. Prof Tang was quoted saying, “All I want to talk about tonight can be summarized in two points. The first one is academic study, and the other is Chinese study.” It was really an opportunity for all M.B.B.S students to listen and learn about Chinese culture from the Dean. He advised the students informing about JNU’s speciality being one of the few universities to have advanced equipment and a newly-built hospital. He asked the students to make good use of what has been provided and not waste the resources given unto them. He also wished the students to spend their leisure time in learning Chinese culture, language and customs. He also added that, Doctor being the noblest profession, is built on hard work and honesty.
 

He also informed that both India and China have the longest histories and that students who have come here to pursue MBBS have obtained the wonderful opportunity to know their neighbour’s history and this learning process does not only include academics but also the long standing culture of the Nation. Following Prof Tang’s address was the special speech delivered by Ms Priya, the business developer of SaraswatiOnline.com. She agreed with Prof Tang’s ideas and wished the students to positively grow in all aspects during their stay in Jinan.
 

 The MBBS students recited and took the Medical student Oath which was led by their Senior Representatives. The following is the Oath that was developed and issued by Ministry Of Education (MOE), universally for all medical students.

 “The moment I step into the hallowed medical institution,I pledge solemnly
I will dedicate myself to medicine with love for my motherland and loyalty to the people.
I will scrupulously abide by the medical ethics, respect my teachers and discipline myself.
I will strive diligently for the perfection of technology and for all-round development of myself.
I am determined to strive diligently to eliminate man’s suffering, enhance man’s health conditions and uphold the chasteness and honor of medicine.
I will heal the wounded and rescue the dying, regardless of the hardships.
I will always be in earnest pursuit of better achievement.
I will work all my life for the development of the nation’s medical service as well as mankind’s physical and mental health.”
 

 All freshmen and senior students took photos with the guests and teachers after the Oath taking ceremony.
 

 It was then the time for performances. Everyone enjoyed the splendid performances of singing, dancing and Chinese kung fu; it was a mixture of both Chinese and Indian culture. It all led to the exciting Party atmosphere when all the freshmen and senior students took to stage and started dancing together; To everyone’s surprise our Dean and the party secretary of IS along with the staff took to dancing.
 

Upon interviewing the freshmen of their views, they expressed sincerely and excitedly that they had really enjoyed the time they had in China so far; loving the weather and people here. They also felt that they can always enrich and upgrade to being a better individual as long as they stay in Jinan.  
 

It was the end of the ceremony, but definitely the beginning of the new journey for the new M.B.B.S students.
