Topic 1: Understanding Interaction Design: A Research Paradigm Perspective
Speaker: Zhang Xiaolong, Associate Professor from The Pennsylvania State University
Date: December 9, 2019
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Venue: Room 338, Nanhai Building
Abstract: In the past several decades, the advance of HCI theories and practices has changed the landscape of interaction design, which has evolved from developing devices or tools for basic interactive tasks to designing systems or even services for complex human activities. How to comprehend the complexity of interaction design? In this talk, I will present an approach to understand interaction design from a research-paradigm perspective. Using some of my researcher projects as examples, I will discuss various methodologies used in different types of interaction design. This talk also offers a sketch of the history of HCI theories and practices.
