Date: May 24, 2018
Time: 19:30 p.m.
Venue: International Conference Hall,Science Museum
Speaker: Hu Weiwu, General manager of Loongson Zhongke Tech Co., Ltd , Chief architect and researcher of Institute of Computing Technology (ICT), the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)
Host: Yi Qingming, Jinan University (JNU)

About Hu Wei-wu
Hu Weiwu, born in Zhejiang province in China in 1968, graduated in computer science from University of Science and Technology of China in 1991. Then he studied for a doctorate at CAS without entrance examination and taught by Xia Peisu, the well-known computer expert and academician. In 1996, Hu obtained the doctor's degree in Engineering and was awarded the National Excellent 100 Doctoral Dissertation.

Abstract
Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the research and development and industrialization have made marked progress. First, the performance of homemade CPU continues to rise, exceeding the low-end product in the global mainstream market and heading for the mid-to-high end. Second, based on this homemade CPU, an industrial chain of more than one thousand enterprises has formed and an autonomous and controllable system of information industry has also taken shape. Third, the CPU has been applied to many areas such as armament, party and government affairs, energy and transportation. Since the CAS launched the research group of the homemade chip

"Loongson", three product lines of Loongson has come into the market. As the director of Loongson, Hu and his team has made a breakthrough of Chinese homemade CPU. They have been continuously and actively exploring the industrialization of Chinese CPU and improving the position of Chinese high-tech industry.

In this lecture, Hu will share with us how the Loongson team break the barrier and the process of building an autonomous and controllable software and hardware system.
