ABSTRACT

As the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up is approaching, it has led China to embark on an open road of strengthening the nation and enriching the people with market-oriented economy, opening up the most brilliant chapter of history in modern China. As an economy with a population of over one billion, China can sustain 40-year rapid growth. Its GDP ranks second in the world, and more than 600 million people are out of poverty that closes to the current size of the EU as a whole. It is a miracle in the history of world economic development.

On a new starting point, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has proposed an important historic record for new era, new mission and new journey, and comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, basically realizing modernization, and then fully building a new socialist modernization power. In this lecture, Tian Guo-qiang will share his reconsideration of 40-year reform and opening up with us from three aspects: the imbalance of the economic and social development mode in the past, the institutional logic of the benign economic and social development, the direction of reform and the future reform of promoting benign development.

(This lecture is a public elective course and public academic activity for students in Jinan University)
