ABOUT ZHANG ZHI-FEI
Zhang Zhi-fei, graduated from Zhejiang University as a Doctor in 2003, is the vice president, a professor and doctorial tutor of School of Mathematical Science in Peking University; he was selected as a member of the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of Ministry of Education in 2011. In 2012, he won the 13th Fok Ying-Tong Education Foundation for Young Teachers, he was also chosen into the first batch of the Youth Talent Support Program of Organization Department of the Central Committ in 2013, he was funded by the National Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2014. Professor Zhang mainly studies on mathematical problems in hydrodynamic equation, he has made great progress in mathematical theory studies such as water wave equation, Navier-Stokes equation and liquid crystal equation and published more than 70 papers on international first-class journals like CPAM, CMP and ARMA.

INTRODUCTION
Landau damping can be defined as damping of a collective mode of oscillations in a collisionless plasma. Analogues of Landau damping has been observed in the sheared hydrodynamic flows. In this talk, I will report our recent results on the damping of the linearized 2-D Euler equations around shear flows.
