Chinese worldview is ancient Chinese view on the order at that time, which was formed before Qin Dynasty with the ideal to achieve supreme harmony in the universal. The view can be seen as the ancient China cultural base which took shape the unique ethnic of the Chinese nation. In the view of traditional ancient Chinese, the distinction between Chinese nation and the other nations was in the way of civilization development rather than the narrow concept of nationalism. While at the system level, the tribute system for Qin Dynasty and other tributary states relationship was peaceful and mutually beneficial rather than colonial. In contrast, Europe was war-torn in medieval times. Later, the introduction and signing of Peace Treaty of Westphalia established the modern international relations standards, which were led by the big powers and brought forth a series of great wars and catastrophes. In Liu Danchen’s lecture, he will elaborate the ancient China’s worldview with the comparison of the current western tide and explain the way to face with western order challenge in the context of the trend of economic globalization as well as to achieve the creative transformation of traditional Chinese culture and to input excellent Chinese cultural values to the world.
