ABOUT THE LECTURE
In the last few years, the change of geopolitical picture of European countries and Trump's election of American President has triggered the arguments about some issues such as immigration and ethnic groups. Some disputes around populism, nationalism and left-leaning or right-leaning, particularly racialism emerged again. So why does western society by far still cannot shake off historical shadow and moral burden of racialism? The lecture will retrospect the development of racialism, a concomitant of colonialism and imperialism, in modern and contemporary history, and its influence on social mentality and public opinion. Meanwhile, the lecture emphasizes the fact that racialism is an important respect to know of not only western society but the issues of modernization and civilization of human society.
