Title: Asymmetric Direct Transformations of Aromatic Compounds Ligand
Speaker: Professor YOU Shu-li
Host: Professor CAI Qian
Organization: Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Released: Science and Technology Research Office
Detail:
Asymmetric dearomatization reactions are particularly attractive methods in organic synthesis given the facts that the starting materials arenes are highly abundant and readily available, and the dearomatization reaction would provide direct access to polycylces and spirocycles bearing quaternary stereogenic center. However, due to the extra stability of “aromaticity” of the arenes, their dearomatization reaction with good enantioselective control has been a challenge.
In this talk, the progress from the You laboratory on the development of catalytic asymmetric dearomatization processes will be introduced. Direct asymmetric dearomatization reactions of various aromatic compounds were realized with a proper choice of catalysts.
ABOUT YOU SHU-LI
Professor You is a well-known expert in the field of transition metal catalysis and asymmetric synthesis, now the director of SIOC national organic metal key laboratory. His research focuses on: to apply organic small molecular catalysts and biological catalysts to the process of synthesis, to search for new drug targets by using small chemical molecules in the regulation mechanisms of biological enzyme, to compound new chemical molecular structure and apply it to biomedical science, etc. From 2006 to 2017, during his term of office in SIOC national organic metal key laboratory, Professor You won more than 30 honors and awards at home and abroad. He was the one of entrants of One Hundred Plan in 2007 and got excellent honor in the final evaluation. In 2014, he became the third outstanding youth science and technology innovation talent of Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai branch. In 2016, he became the leading figure of the second batch of national Ten Thousand Project talents. He published above 200 theses on international famous publications like Chem. Rev., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. etc. Also, he had co-authored ten professional book chapters.
