Prof. Xu Shunqing is a doctoral tutor, vice dean of School of Public Health, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, academic leader in the discipline of Occupational and Environmental Health among national key disciplines, distinguished professor of Changjiang Scholar Program and Ten Thousand Talent Program, recipient of special government allowances of the State Council, reviewer for discipline of Environmental Chemistry, Department of Chemical Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China, vice director of Environmental Medicine and Health Section, Chinese Society for Environmental Science, executive director of Sensor and Transducer Technical Division in Chinese Instrument and Control Society and editorial board member of China Preventive Medicine and Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medicine Science) and Asian Journal of Ecotoxicolog.

Prof. Xu gained one national patent and won the second prize of Advance of Science and Technology of Hubei Province. He was selected by the Program for New Century Excellent Talents of Ministry of Education in 2004. He was a visiting scholar in Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Germany in 1999 and University of Tuebingen, Germany in 2002. His major research interests are focused on environmental pollutants on fetal origins of adult diseases and biomarkers in environment.

He was in charge of successively one key project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, one project of Overseas Young Scholars Cooperation Foundation, fine general programs, two national 863 plans projects, two projects of environmental protection and other 10 provincial projects. He has published more than 60 SCI papers as a corresponding author in many internationally refereed journals including Clin Chem, Environ Health Perspect, Nanomed-Nanotech, Biosensor Bioelectron and Anal Chem, the papers having been cited over 800 times.
