Doctoral supervisor Guo is a director of the Laboratory of Atmospheric Environment Chemistry & Health and a deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry & Ecotoxicology under Chinese Academy of Sciences.
As the vice president of Beijing Chromatogram Society, he is also a member of the Division of Environmental Medicine & Health under Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, the Committee of Analytical Toxicology under Chinese Society of Toxicology and the Electrochemical Analysis Special Committee under China Instrument and Control Society. Besides, he serves as a deputy editor of Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts, chief editor of Environmental Chemistry and editorial member of Chinese Science Bulletin, Analytical Chemistry, 1000 selected problems in Science: Chemistry.
Guo was selected into 100 Talents Program by Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004. Later, he won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Excellent Guide Teacher Award for Graduates in 2009. Then, he was awarded the Outstanding Science and Technology Achievements Prize, given the title of Outstanding Mid-Aged Expert in New Century Talents Projects and appointed as the chief scientist of National Basic Research Program in 2013. In addition, Guo who has undertaken nearly ten national scientific research projects and delivered almost 100 academic papers was selected as a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
His research fields include new electrochemistry, photoelectrochemistry, electrochemical luminescence and fluorescence bioanalytical method, the application of bioanalytical method in rapid environmental monitoring and toxicity screening of environmental compounds, the interaction between environmental compounds and biomacromolecule and its eco-toxicological effect as well as the development of biosensor, biochip and biological analysis instrument.
