School of Marxism
Founded in 1958 as the Teaching and Research Office of Marxism-Leninism, the School of Marxism/Department of Social Sciences has experienced historic changes, including the addition of the Department of Social Sciences Theoretical Foundations in 1984 and the merger with the Moral Education Center in 1993, before the school's recent re-establishment in 2016.
The School of Marxism shoulders the ideological and political theory courses of all mainland students and the national required courses of all overseas students. Courses are recognized at the university, the provincial and the national levels, among them Traditional Chinese Culture, An Introduction is listed as both a national and a provincially excellent course. Theory and Practices of Socialism With Chinese Characteristics is approved as the Model Graduates' Course Construction Program of Guangdong Province 2015.
