First Clinical Medical School
The First Clinical Medical College of Jinan University, also known as Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Hospital or the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, was built in 1978 on the occasion of Jinan University's third re-establishment, and to satisfy the needs of overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots who needed medical services on the mainland. In 1981, Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Hospital officially opened and was also named the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University in 2001. In 2004, the First Clinical Medical College of Jinan University was founded. The hospital has been rated as a Ten Best AAA Hospital in Guangzhou for five consecutive years, from 2010 to 2014.
The characteristics of hospital medical projects have outstanding advantages. Minimally invasive surgery, orthopedics, interventional vascular surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, hemodialysis fetal medicine and psychiatry are at the highest levels in the region. Surgery, ophthalmology, medical imaging and nuclear medicine, renal medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, neurology, rehabilitation, ophthalmology, dentistry, clinical care, and traditional medicine are provincial key disciplines and key clinical specialties. The school has won second prize for the National Science and Technology Progress, as well as other provincial awards. The school is also home to a pilot hospital for a professional master's degree and outstanding doctors' training program.
