On December 19th, Jinan University organized a special academic lecture and related activities focused on Guangdong's potential to lead China's reform and opening up. The event featured a welcome speech by Lin Rupeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jinan University, and an academic report by Li Shiping, Vice President of Yangcheng Evening News Group, who has 38 years of experience in the news and communication industry.

During his speech, Lin Rupeng highlighted Li Shiping's extensive experience as a witness and chronicler of China's reform and opening up, emphasizing the valuable insights he could provide to the School of Journalism and Communication at Jinan University. He urged the school to take advantage of this resource to enhance teaching, scientific research, and talent cultivation efforts.
Drawing from his decades of experience in Guangdong's reform and opening up initiatives, Li Shiping delivered an academic report titled Why Guangdong Can Become the First Province of China's Reform and Opening Up. He outlined four key factors contributing to Guangdong's success in this regard, emphasizing the province's economic achievements, institutional reforms, successful practices, and implications for deeper reforms.
In conclusion, Li Shiping imparted five key words to the students at Jinan University, encouraging them to aspire, show gratitude, study diligently, seek harmony, and persevere in their endeavors.
Additionally, Wu Huiling, an alumnus of the 2005 in-service master's degree program in economics and management, generously donated 10 sets of Independent Thinking: Collected Works of Li Shiping to the school library and School of Journalism and Communication. Lin Zhongxuan, Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Jinan University, accepted the gift on behalf of the school and presented a commemorative certificate to Wu Huiling.
