For the last two years, Jinan University has been pushing forward the development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). JNU has released 40 courses on the icourse, XuetangX and CNMOOC platforms, 16 of which are live teaching on those websites. In cases, JNU has had the most MOOCs of any university in Guangdong Province. "The Spatial Art Manifestation of A Dream of Red Mansions," "English Grammar and Writing" and "Basics of Entrepreneurship" rank high on the icourse home page.
Despite the online courses started by Peking, Tsinghua, Fudan, Sichuan and other universities, JNU's MOOCs have attracted about 170,000 students. Among these, more than 50,000 students selected JNU's "Chinese Medicine and Diagnosis: Learn to Become Your Own Doctor" and "Digital Marketing: Approaching the Wise Brand."

Jinan University has started MOOCs and offline video classes on its Tianhe, Panyu and Zhuhai campuses to share high-quality teaching and learning resources. Students spend about two-thirds of their entire study on MOOCs and one-third on video classes.
The Office of Teaching Affairs and the Education Technology Center plan to start further cooperation on online classes to include not only elementary but also professional courses. By developing professional courses, leaders and teachers at Jinan University expect to develop new models of teaching, strengthen teaching effects and improve students' knowledge.
