The new teaching building, which locates at the center of the new campus, is adjacent to new library and student canteen. With blue slope roof and off-white facade, and a courtyard layout, the teaching building features a typical Linan (South China) architectural style. The six-storey teaching building, with 5 stories above ground and 1 underground, total gross floor area measuring 27,310m2,can offer sufficient teaching space for 15,000 students. The height of the teaching building is 23.9m, including a 500-seat conference room, the maximum span of it being 27.8m. Also, there are 10 free-arrangement classrooms, in which chairs and desks can be arranged in whatever way the students and teachers wish to be so as to replace the stationary desks and chairs in traditional classrooms. All faculties can require to give class in these classrooms. The purpose of introducing free-arranging classroom is to build an open communicating platform for students and teachers, as to meet international standards, according Lin Xiaoning, deputy director of the South Campus administrative committee.
